Peninsular Malaysia to Benefit from New Targeted Diesel Subsidy Starting June 10, 2024

Finance Minister II, YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, announced a targeted diesel subsidy effective June 10, 2024, aligning diesel prices with market rates. Diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will cost RM3.35 per litre, while Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan remain at RM2.15. Subsidized rates for eligible sectors include RM2.15 for logistics, RM1.88 for public transport, and RM1.65 for fishermen. Cash assistance of RM200 monthly will be provided to diesel vehicle owners and small-scale farmers under the BUDI program. The government aims to reduce subsidy leakages, saving billions in ringgit.
