IRB Releases New Dividend Voucher Format to Support Tax Compliance
6/24/20251 min read

The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has introduced a new dividend voucher format, now available for download at www.hasil.gov.my. Companies are encouraged to adopt the standardised format to ensure accurate and transparent reporting of dividend information. This initiative follows the government's Budget 2025 announcement to impose a 2% tax on individual shareholders receiving dividends exceeding RM100,000 annually, effective from Year of Assessment 2025. In line with Section 108 of the Income Tax Act 1967, companies distributing dividends must issue vouchers to shareholders. IRB says the move enhances tax system integrity and encourages systematic compliance.
