IRB Clarifies No Refund Status Links Sent via MyTax Portal

The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) clarified that it does not send links to taxpayers regarding refund statuses through the MyTax portal. In a statement, the IRB emphasized that no notifications can be sent without proper authorization and warned of strict action against those spreading false information. Disseminating fake news can lead to prosecution under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA). The IRB urged the public to verify information through official channels such as www.hasil.gov.my, MyTax, the hotline at 03-8911 1000, or by visiting the nearest IRB office.
