The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seized eight luxury vehicles worth nearly RM6 million from individuals suspected of smuggling tobacco, alcohol, and cigarettes in the Klang Valley. This operation also revealed the syndicate's bribery activities, totaling over RM8 million, involving civil servants to facilitate smuggling. The MACC's Anti-Money Laundering Unit conducted the seizures in collaboration with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). Investigations uncovered money laundering through ghost companies and licensed money lending firms, causing estimated tax losses of over RM400 million. Mule accounts were allegedly used for bribery transactions with complicit civil servants. MACC's Anti-Money Laundering Unit Director, Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin, confirmed the actions.
