E-Invoice Data Reveals 66,000 E-Commerce Firms Evading Tax Payments
3/4/20251 min read

The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has identified 66,000 e-commerce businesses that failed to comply with estimated tax instalments under the Income Tax Act 1967. Detected through e-invoice submissions since August 2023, these businesses have also not submitted income tax return forms, despite issuing four million e-invoices. LHDN urged them to update tax records to avoid enforcement action. By March 3, 196 million e-invoices were issued, reflecting positive compliance. The grace period for Phase One taxpayers ended on January 31, and full e-invoicing implementation is now required from February 1, as LHDN actively monitors taxpayer data via MyInvois.
