Applications for Service and Sales Tax Updates Open in Stages Starting June 24

In preparation for the revised Sales and Service Tax (SST) framework effective 1 July 2025, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department has announced staggered application dates. Existing SST-registered businesses can begin submitting applications to include newly taxable services and revised tariff codes from 24 June 2025. Meanwhile, new applicants affected by the expanded scope may register starting 1 August 2025. This phased approach aims to ensure a smooth transition under the updated tax system. The revision is part of the government’s broader effort to enhance compliance and streamline the nation’s indirect tax regime.
